DetailsAt Baby Steps our goal is to capture your child's honest and unique personality. In our fun, relaxed, loving environment you will never be rushed. Sessions can last anywhere between 1-2 hours so that your child has time to relax, have some play time and feel comfortable in front of the camera. Prior to your photo session, we will discuss details of the shoot including clothing recommendations, backdrop options, and any preferences you may have. They'll be plenty of time for diaper, clothing, and setting changes as well as feedings, snacks, etc. We encourage you to bring along favorite blankets, toys, music, hats or outfits; anything that's special and unique to your child. We believe that the photography session should be laid back, spontaneous and enjoyable. That way we are able to capture the natural and honest essence of your child and create a timeless portrait you will want to keep forever.MaternityMaternity portraits are best around 7-8 months. We use different lighting techniques and many approaches to work within your comfort level. It's up to you to decide how exposed you want to be. In order to avoid marks on your belly, we recommend wearing loose fitting clothing with non-elastic waists for 6 hours prior to the shoot.Newborn & BabiesThe most ideal time for a newborn session is in the first 1-3 weeks so give us a call before your due date. We'll keep in touch and make sure we are available for when your little one arrives! For newborns and babies, bare skin is classic so a few hours before the photo session please put them in loose fitting clothing to prevent red lines or clothing marks.Children & FamiliesWhen scheduling sessions it is important to take into consideration your child's most ideal time of day, when they will likely be most happy and well fed and rested. Clothing should be simple. Solid colours and neutral tones work best. Busy patterns, logos and characters can date your photos. For family portraits, clothes in the same colour range work well and if unsure, jeans and a white or black t-shirt are also great looks. Within 1-2 weeks of your session, you will join us in our relaxed and comfortable studio lounge, where we will review your images in a slide show presentation. Now is the time to sit back and relax while our portrait consultant helps you compare and select your favorite images. |
